My email to Maureen Dowd-

Hello, my name is Jacob Saylor. I live in Indiana and attend Roncalli High School. For my English class, we are choosing an opinion editorial writer to follow. You were my choice, and I was wondering if you could give me your opinion on which specific articles of yours that you think I should read?

Thanks

Pass the Caribou Stew

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/12/08/opinion/08dowd.html?_r=1&ref=maureendowd

Claim- In this essay, Maureen Dowd attacks Sarah Palin for her stance on hunting on often. Dowd says Palin's claim that she hunts to feed her family is ridiculous.

Concession- Palin uses hunting as a way to show her toughness to voters.

The caribou are very helpless creatures.
It costs more to get to the hunting grounds then to simply buy the food.
Palin takes a full camera crew with her.

It costs more to get to the hunting grounds then to simply buy the food
-she takes two planes to get there
-she has to buy guns and ammo
-pay for camping expenses

 -paying for the crew's expenses

I agree with my author because Palin does what she does only to get attention. She tries to show how tough she is by killing helpless animals. The claim that she is simply feeding her family is ridiculous.
